The hashtag recently gained momentum after Twitter user Keah Brown (@keah_maria) tweeted a photo of herself saying,
“I want to shoutout my Disabled brothers, sisters, & non-binary folks! W/ #DisabledandCute.”

Shortly after, the hashtag caught fire and tons of people started jumping on the phrase. Here’s Brown (who has Cerebral Palsy) again on starting the hashtag:
“It took me a while to get to that place to feel any sort of positive thing about my physical appearance,” says Brown. “So now that I do, I’m like, hey, I might as well celebrate it.”
While scrolling through the reactions, you’ll notice others are starting to share photos with their disabilities, celebrating body positivity, acceptance and pride.
Brown is currently a Senior Entertainment writer at Cliché Magazine who generates stories that focus on Blackness and disabilities.
After being asked what she thinks of the feedback she’s received so far, Brown states It’s been overwhelmingly positive.
There goes a saying, “beauty is only skin-deep,” but no matter how you look at it, this is one of those feel-good stories that demonstrates no matter what adversity we face, we don’t have to face it alone.
