Maker Studios Apparently Slashing Creator Network By The Thousands

Maker Studios Apparently Slashing Creator Network By The Thousands

After the recent fallout a few days ago, Maker Studios announced that they had cut ties with one of their prominent influencers, Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg after he posted an anti-semetic video on his YouTube account.

Apparently, the Disney-owned company Maker is going a new route and has cut smaller creators and re-focusing on influencers with larger fanbases.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the story and says one source claims the studio is absolutely not shutting down.

Disney acquired Maker Studios back in 2014 for $500 million with the possibility of additional earnings. Initially, it was expected that Disney would leave the entity alone, but major execs have left the company and now there’s buzz that Disney is playing more of a “big brother” role these days.

According to THR.com, Maker Studios has not release a response to the reports.

Check out the Song Voyage, Maker’s most recent release and stay tuned for updates on the layoffs.
