Top 7 ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Predictions that will blow you away

Okay, The Last Jedi is close to being released and there’s a lot of hot-button topics we wanted to break down. We’ve scanned over all the currently released trailers (even the international ones) and formulated our own courageous prophecies. Just so we’re clear, these are pure speculation. Each prediction we’ve concocted comes straight from the movies and the extended universe.

Since there are only a few more days until its official debut, we couldn’t help but draw out a few predictions of our own and imagine what we think may happen in The Last Jedi – and beyond.

Another Vergence In the Force

Journal of the Whills to make its debut?

Journal of the Whills to make its debut?

Much like the 'Cave of Evil' on Dagobah in The Empire Strikes Back, the tree you see in the fog is probably housing none other than the 'Jorunal of the Whills' (shown in the trailer). Contained in it will be the teachings of how a force user can a balance both light and dark energy. Upon entering, Rey will begin to have more flashbacks of her past, present and future – and there may be a special visitor awaiting her! – enter Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader!

After studying the book, she will begin to sense and understand the dual nature of the force (grey Jedi) and Luke will begin training Rey, as he too is curious and believes she may be the key to finally bringing true balance.

We'll See Two Versions of Luke Skywalker

Throughout the movie, fans will see both a light side and a dark side to Luke. In earlier scenes, he’ll have his hood down, wearing Jedi robes. In later scenes, he'll wear his hood up, sporting darker coverings like his father Anakin (Darth Vader). I personally think fiddling in balance of the force will give Luke an almost ‘split’ personality. Yet, in order to effectively train Rey, he’ll have to essentially lose himself to the will of the force (which will seem like he’s going insane, but he’s not).

What Happened to Luke At the Jedi Temple?

What happens at the Jedi temple will be revealed.

What happens at the Jedi temple will be revealed.

As Rey begins to uncover the secrets of her past, so will Luke, as he finally reveals why he went into exile and how he lost Kylo to the dark side. In this scene, we’ll get to see Luke in all his glory, training Jedi in the newly established Jedi Temple. Fans will be treated with a beautiful and heartfelt scenes of Luke training Jedi and his friendship with Kylo. Although details aren’t quite clear how Kylo comes to know the dark side, at some point, we believe there will be a scene much like the one in Episode III, when Anakin is seduced by the dark side. This scene will be very reminiscent of the conversation Emperor Palpatine had with Anakin in Revenge of the Sith about Darth Plaguis having the ability to save the ones he loved, even from dying. Of course, we know this is where Kylo is tricked into betraying Luke and his downfall begins. Kylo leads his army and the Knights of Ren in an attempt to destroy Luke and any Jedi that attempt to resist.

Rey’s Parents?

Where are Rey's Parents?

Where are Rey's Parents?

A lot of fans have gone back and forth about who Rey’s parents could be, but honestly, the answer may have been right under our noses this whole time. If you look back to the second trailer released for The Force Awakens, you’ll remember Luke Skywalker saying, “The force is strong in my family. My father has it, I have it, my sister has it… you have that power too.” When it comes to 19-year-old Rey, Luke Skywalker… you ARE the father! Yes! You heard it here first, Rey is in fact a Skywalker. Is it too good to be true? Well yes and no, but here’s why.

This trilogy was designed from the beginning to close out the Skywalker saga. We know Luke and Leia are both still very much alive, yet, it’s been a while since they last spoke. At some point in the film, Luke and Leia will catch up on lost time and discuss the loss of Han Solo. Before parting ways (which could be their last encounter), Leia will reveal to Luke that he is the father of Rey. At this point, it will also be revealed that both Han and Leia had raised Rey (in secret) up until her arrival on Jakku to be hidden from the First Order, and Supreme Leader Snoke. As to why Han and Leia left so abruptly and left Rey alone remains a mystery. Lastly, the ultimate question -- who and where is Rey’s mother?

Luke and Kylo VS Rey and Snoke?!

No matter how many predictions we make, we know for certain there will definitely be a lightsaber battle that will have everyone talking for years to come, but how will it unfold? Our predictions point toward an epic finale near the ending of Episode 8.

POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT!?

The thing that triggers Kylo to turn against Snoke (we believe) will be the perceived death or torturing of his mother Leia. There will be a pivotal scene in The Last Jedi where we’ll see Kylo pick up his newly-redesigned crossguard lightsaber, unleashing havoc on everything that stands in his way. Suddenly, Kylo’s crossguard lightsaber is ripped from his grip into the hands of Rey!

Rey orders the Praetorian Guards to attack Kylo, he easily defeats them two-on-one. Once Snoke sees this, he becomes infuriated and joins the fight and both he and Rey will try to double-team Kylo This will prove to be too much for him – until Luke shows up donning new look and new colored lightsaber! Luke will help Kylo escape.

Is Benicio Del Toro’s character good or bad?

Is Benicio Del Toro a good guy or bad guy?

Is Benicio Del Toro a good guy or bad guy?

At some point, we expect Rey to be captured by the First Order, but it may come at the hands of Benicio Del Toro’s mystery character, DJ. It’s already been hinted at during multiple interviews that he’ll be “playing a villain .” So just to recap, if he captures Rey, wouldn’t that make him… a bounty hunter?! *cues the dramatic music*

Now before you go getting your warp drives in a loop, there could be a slight possibility that DJ may end up just being a good guy near the end -- as long as there’s a good payoff. (Sounds a little Han Solo-ish, amirite?)

What happens to Leia?

General Leia's last dance?

General Leia's last dance?

It’s been nearly a year since the tragic passing of Carrie Fisher, and fans are wondering how it will affect the storyline overall. Fisher did happen to finish all of her scenes for The Last Jedi, but what about Episode IX? We know that Leia’s role was intended to be the focus of the next movie, but let’s focus on what we currently know.

It’s already been confirmed by Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy that unlike the CGI Leia we saw in Rogue One, recreating Fisher in Episode IX was definitively “off the table.” Leia’s scenes in The Last Jedi are said to be very emotional, thus she’ll seemingly fade away quietly into the vastness of space. To substitute for her absence, it would make sense if there’s a time jump going into Episode IX. That would seem a bit more feasible and easier for J.J. Abrams to manage when it’s his turn to direct.
