The UAE wants humans to live in space
Greetings earthlings! The United Arab Emirates has recently announced a new project that plans to create the first inhabitable human settlement by 2117. No, seriously…
The project titled “Mars 2117 Project” was announced Tuesday by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, leader of Dubai and the Vice President of the UAE. The announcement came on the 5th World Government Summit that is currently being held.
His highness recently tweeted about the announcement.
“The landing of people on other planets has been a longtime dream for humans. Our aim is that the UAE will spearhead international efforts to make this dream a reality,” said Sheikh Mohammad.
The projects focus is to develop quicker ways of getting from and to the Red Planet. The project also has sweeping visualizations of how the community will look like and how society will function, transportation, food and energy will be created.
There’s only one problem with all of this. We’ll almost certainly be space dust by then. Bummer.
